(What is Changing?) Starting this month (January 2026), Stripe is reaching out to existing connected accounts in Europe (including the UK) to collect updated information.
To meet these new standards, you may be asked to provide:
Enhanced Identity Verification: If Stripe can’t verify you automatically, you may need to complete a selfie verification or upload two separate documents: one for Proof of Identity (Passport) and one for Proof of Home Address (Utility bill or bank statement).
Legal Entity Verification: Confirmation of your company name, address, and registration number.
UBO & Director Verification: Verification of the “Ultimate Beneficial Owners” (that’s you and your co-founders).
(Why is this happening?) It’s not just you. This is happening across 33 countries in Europe to comply with local financial regulations like those from the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). It keeps the ecosystem safe and reduces fraud.

(Your Action Plan) Stripe has stated that they will reach out gradually throughout the year, so your account won’t be blocked overnight. However, if you miss the deadline, payouts can be paused.
Check your Dashboard: Look for banners or alerts requiring action.
Prepare your Docs: Have your passport and a recent personal bank statement (dated within 3 months) ready.
Verify your Business Address: Ensure your Launchese Registered Office details match what is on Companies House.
Need a specific document or help understanding the request? We help you navigate KYC every day.
